Construction apprenticeship: Course Overview

Step One | Level 1 City & Guilds Health & Safety Training
Begin your journey with two days of expert-led online webinars, covering essential health and safety knowledge for construction environments. You’ll complete the Level 1 City & Guilds Health & Safety exam remotely, proving you're ready to work on-site responsibly and safely.

Step Two | CSCS Card Certification
Next, attend a focused one-day webinar to prepare for the CSCS card exam. Upon passing, you'll receive your CSCS card—your official pass to legally work on UK construction sites.

Step Three | Work Preparation & Interview Support
With your CSCS card secured, you’ll participate in two days of pre-employment training webinars to ensure you're job-ready. Then, we’ll connect you with our employer network for guaranteed interview opportunities for labourer and site support roles across the UK.

Step Four | Start Earning on Site
Begin working on-site in an entry-level construction role, such as a labourer or ground-worker. Typical tasks include site preparation, maintenance, and clean-up. You’ll earn between £10.65 and £14.00 per hour, depending on your location and role responsibilities.

Step Five | Begin Trade Theory (Optional Electrical Pathway)
While gaining experience on-site, you can choose to start the theory portion of an electrical or other trade course via flexible online learning. This step helps you grow your technical knowledge while continuing to earn.

Step Six | Hands-On Practical Training
Once you’ve built a solid foundation of theory, you’ll attend in-person practical sessions at our fully equipped Talent Forge Centre. Guided by expert trainers, you'll gain hands-on skills in your chosen trade pathway (e.g., electrical, plumbing, bricklaying).

Step Seven | Assessment & Certification
Throughout your practical training, you'll be assessed on-site and in-centre, working towards nationally recognised trade qualifications. These certifications improve your employability and open doors to higher-skilled positions.

Step Nine | Career Support for 3 Years
We don’t just train you—we support you. For up to 3 years, you’ll receive access to our Career Support Team, helping with job placements, CV development, interviews, and up-skilling opportunities.

Step Eight | Progression Opportunities
With foundational experience and qualifications under your belt, you can begin progressing toward specialist or supervisory roles in construction. Whether you choose to stay employed or branch into subcontracting, we’ll help guide your next move.

Step Ten | Build Your Future in Construction

This final step is all about putting everything you’ve learned into action—and shaping a future that matches your ambition.
Whether you want to become a fully qualified tradesperson, work toward site supervision or specialist roles, become a self-employed contractor, or even launch your own construction business, Talent Forge Centre gives you the foundations to grow and the freedom to choose your path.
By the time you reach this stage, you’ll have:
Real-world site experience
CITB-accredited qualifications
Hands-on training across key construction disciplines

A professional network of employers and peers
3 years of ongoing career support
We don’t just train you to fill a job—we prepare you for long-term success. You’ll understand how to work safely, lead effectively, and adapt to the evolving needs of the construction industry. If your goal is to be your own boss, we’ll help you explore self-employment options, build your business knowledge, and connect with support networks.
In an industry where skilled workers are in high demand, the opportunities are endless. And with the Talent Forge Centre behind you, you’re not just entering a trade—you’re building a career.
Construction apprenticeships typically take 2 to 3 years to complete through traditional routes, involving a mix of college attendance and on-site work. Standard apprenticeships often include one day a week in a classroom and four days working on a construction site, gradually building skills over time.
At Talent Forge Centre, our Construction Apprenticeship Programme is designed to fast-track your entry into the industry—helping you build skills, earn income, and gain real experience much faster than conventional pathways.
While the exact duration will vary depending on your chosen trade path (e.g. groundworks, bricklaying, electrical, or plumbing), most learners progress significantly faster than through traditional apprenticeships. You’ll begin earning quickly while receiving both hands-on practical training and CITB-accredited qualifications.
This flexible, industry-focused approach means you can start working sooner, gain qualifications quicker, and access long-term career support—all while learning from experienced professionals.
